What Dissolvable Food Prep Labels Should Mean to Buyers

Dissolvable food labels are intended to break down during washing, but the word alone does not describe every layer or wash condition. Ask what happens to the face material, adhesive and ink in the supplier’s stated process.

Ask what happens to the face, adhesive and ink

Confirm water conditions, agitation, contact time and any preparation needed before washing. Then compare those conditions with your actual dishroom. A product that washes away in a supplier demonstration must also stay readable during your intended storage and handling period.

Questions behind a dissolvable claim

  • Clarify whether both facestock and adhesive are intended to disperse.
  • Ask what water temperature and agitation were used in testing.
  • Test behavior during cold storage as well as washing.
  • Request residue and legibility test results.

Inspect what remains after normal washing

Trial matched tubs through a normal prep cycle and wash them by the approved routine. Inspect for paper fragments, remaining print and adhesive film. Record any extra cleaning separately. A soluble adhesive with an intact face sheet may behave differently from a label designed to disperse throughout.

Compare the label format

Compare the Standard Bull blank dissolvable four-roll format. Confirm the current listing details against the requirements above.
