Food Labels for Stackable Deli Containers: Placement Guide

Choose a deli-container label position that remains visible when tubs are stacked as used. A label that looks clear on a single cup can disappear beneath a lid rim or rub against the next container.

Build the real stack first

  1. Use the common cup sizes with their normal lids.
  2. Place samples clear of seals, ridges and points that rub when stacking.
  3. Read the food name and required date without dismantling the whole stack.
  4. Check whether the same position works on both short and tall containers.

Compare lid and side placement

Lid labels can be easy to write but hidden beneath another tub. Side labels can be visible on shelves but difficult to fit on tapered walls. Choose based on the way staff store and retrieve the food, including how lids are kept with their containers.

Inspect after handling

Chill and move the trial containers through the normal work route. Check condensation, ink smearing and abrasion at contact points. Then compare intended removal on reusable containers, noting fragments or adhesive.

Make the placement repeatable

Show a correctly stacked and labeled example beside the workstation. Keep important records visible even when the containers are in customer view. If sizes need different positions, document each rather than leaving staff to improvise during prep.
