Write-On Food Labels for Condensation-Prone Containers
Share
For condensation-prone containers, test two separate conditions: moisture present when the label is applied and moisture appearing later. A product may handle one condition differently from the other, so a single “waterproof” description is not enough.
Record the moment of application
A container moving between a cool area and a warmer room can develop a damp exterior. Note the actual surface condition when staff reach for a label. Ask the supplier which conditions the exact adhesive and face material support.
Test writing and attachment separately
- Prepare the container exterior according to the product instructions.
- Use the normal pen, allowing any specified drying time.
- Follow the container through its ordinary chill-and-transfer route.
- Record smeared ink separately from a softened face, curling corners or a missing label.
Include the cleaning step
After the label has survived the required holding period, remove it using the intended method. A dissolvable label must pass service readability as well as wash-away removal; a removable label must also be checked for fragments and adhesive.
Choose a practical specification
If a product requires a dry surface that cannot be maintained at the labeling point, evaluate another specification or an approved earlier labeling step. Keep normal food-handling controls intact. Retain the successful pen, product and application instructions together.
